[Yoh 6:20] I Could Not Do Without Thee
I could not do without Thee
O Savior of the lost,
Whose precious blood redeemed me
At such tremendous cost.
Thy righteousness, thy pardon
Thy precious blood, must be
My only hope and comfort,
My glory and my plea.I could not do without Thee,
I cannot stand alone,
I have no strength or goodness,
No wisdom of my own;
But Thou, beloved Savior,
Art all in all to me,
And weakness will be power
If leaning hard on Thee.I could not do without Thee,
For, oh, the way is long,
And I am often weary,
And sigh replaces song:
How could I do without Thee?
I do not know the way;
Thou knowest, and Thou leadest,
And wilt not let me stray.I could not do without Thee,
O Jesus, Savior dear;
E’en when my eyes are holden,
I know that Thou art near.
How dreary and how lonely
This changeful life would be,
Without the sweet communion,
The secret rest with Thee!I could not do without Thee;
No other friend can read
The spirit’s strange deep longings,
Interpreting its need;
No human heart could enter
Each dim recess of mine,
And soothe, and hush, and calm it,
O blessèd Lord, but Thine.I could not do without Thee,
For years are fleeting fast,
And soon in solemn oneness
The river must be passed;
But Thou wilt never leave me,
And though the waves roll high,
I know Thou wilt be near me,
And whisper, “It is I.”Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Yoh 9:2] Christ A Blind Man Saw One Day
Christ a blind man saw one day, as He went along his way.
His disciples asked, “Who sinned, that he blind from birth has been?”
Jesus said, “Sin’s not to blame, but God’s work will now be plain.”
Then He spit upon the ground, made some mud, and put it on.
“Go and wash,” He then did say, and the blind man did obey.
He was blind no more; he now could see.All the people were confused when they heard about the news.
They said, “Blind you’ve been for life. How then did you gain your sight?”
He said, “Jesus—it was He. He made mud, I washed, now see.”
Then the Pharisees complained, though the miracle was plain.
“This man’s not from God,” they claimed, “for the Sabbath He’s profaned.”
They were blind from sin; they could not see.The man’s parents then were called and were asked to recount all.
They confessed he was their son, but knew not what Christ had done.
They said, “Ask him; let him tell. He’s of age and can speak well.”
So they summoned him once more. Said, “This Man’s a sinner sure.”
He said, “Whether He has blame, I know not, but this is plain:
Though I once was blind, I now can see!”Still the Pharisees did rail, asked him to repeat his tale.
Said, “His foll’wer you’ve become, though we don’t know where He’s from.”
He replied, “If not from God, this man could not do such good.”
Then they drove him from that place. Jesus found him in disgrace.
Said, “The Son of Man now speaks; you have seen Him; now believe.”
He said, “I believe; Lord, I believe!”Jesus came to judge the earth and show sin for what it’s worth.
As He gave the blind man sight, He can cleanse us by His might.
But we must admit we’re blind, or His healing we’ll not find.
If we claim that we can see, we will ever guilty be.
But when we in Him believe, He will then our guilt relieve.
We’ll be blind no more when we believe.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:4] Abide Not In The Realm Of Dreams
Abide not in the realm of dreams,
O man, however fair it seems;
But with clear eye the present scan,
And hear the call of God and man.Think not in sleep to fold thy hands,
Forgetful of thy Lord’s commands;
From duty’s claims no life is free,
Behold, today hath need of thee.The present hour allots thy task,
For present strength and patience ask;
And trust His love Whose sure supply
Meets all thy need abundantly.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:4] All Faded Is The Glowing Light
All faded is the glowing light
That once from Heaven shone,
When startled shepherds in the night
The angels came upon.O shine again, ye angel host,
And say that He is near;
Though but a simple few at most
Believe He will appear.Ye heavens, that have been growing dark,
Now also are ye dumb;
When shall the listeners say, “Hark!
They’re singing—He will come”?Lord, come again, O come again,
Come even as Thou wilt;
But not anew to suffer pain,
And strive with human guilt.O come again, Thou mighty King,
Let earth Thy glory see;
And let us hear the angels sing,
“He comes with victory.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:4] Go, Labor On: Spend, And Be Spent
Go, labor on: spend, and be spent,
Thy joy to do the Father’s will:
It is the way the Master went;
Should not the servant tread it still?Go, labor on! ’tis not for naught
Thine earthly loss is heavenly gain;
Men heed thee, love thee, praise thee not;
The Master praises: what are men?Go, labor on! enough, while here,
If He shall praise thee, if He deign
The willing heart to mark and cheer:
No toil for Him shall be in vain.Go, labor on! Your hands are weak,
Your knees are faint, your soul cast down;
Yet falter not; the prize you seek
Is near—a kingdom and a crown.Go, labor on while it is day:
The world’s dark night is hastening on;
Speed, speed thy work, cast sloth away;
It is not thus that souls are won.Men die in darkness at thy side,
Without a hope to cheer the tomb;
Take up the torch and wave it wide,
The torch that lights time’s thickest gloom.Toil on, faint not, keep watch and pray,
Be wise the erring soul to win;
Go forth into the world’s highway,
Compel the wanderer to come in.Toil on, and in thy toil rejoice!
For toil comes rest, for exile home;
Soon shalt thou hear the Bridegroom’s voice,
The midnight peal, “Behold, I come!”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:4] Handful Of Leaves, A
What! sitting at ease when there’s work to be done!
The best of the day half its circuit has run;
Yon orb to its zenith rides forth in the sky;
What! sitting at ease and the harvest so nigh!Refrain
Oh, look on the fields, that already are white;
The Lord hath commanded to work in the light;
Beware lest, instead of the bright, golden sheaves,
We bring to Him only a handful of leaves.What! sitting at ease, leaving others the toil
Of training the vineyard and tilling the soil;
This truth in our mind let us constantly keep,
From seed what we scatter the fruit we shall reap.Refrain
What! sitting at ease, when a burden of care
Our brother has borne we might help him to bear;
Oh, let us be earnest, and work while we may,
The Master is calling, arise and away.Refrain
No longer at ease we are folding our hands,
But, willing to do what the Savior commands,
We’ll work till the harvest, then gather the sheaves,
And bring to Him more than a handful of leaves.Refrain

[Yoh 9:4] Must I Go, And Empty Handed?
“Must I go, and empty handed,”
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him,
Lay no trophy at His feet?Refrain
“Must I go, and empty handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty handed go?Not at death I shrink or falter,
For my Savior saves me now;
But to meet Him empty handed,
Thought of that now clouds my brow.Refrain
O the years in sinning wasted,
Could I but recall them now,
I would give them to my Savior,
To His will I’d gladly bow.Refrain
O ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
Up and work while yet ’tis day;
Ere the night of death o’ertake thee,
Strive for souls while still you may.Refrain

One more day’s work for Jesus,
One less of life for me!
But Heav’n is nearer, and Christ is clearer

His love and light fill all my soul tonight.Refrain
One more day’s work for Jesus,
One more day’s work for Jesus,
One more day’s work for Jesus,
One less of life for me!One more day’s work for Jesus!
How sweet the work has been,
To tell the story, to show the glory,
Where Christ’s flock enters in!
How it did shine in this poor heart of mine.Refrain
One more day’s work for Jesus!
O yes, a weary day;
But Heav’n shines clearer, and rest comes nearer,
At each step of the way;
And Christ in all, before His face I fall.Refrain
O blessèd work for Jesus!
O rest at Jesus’ feet!
There toil seems pleasure, my wants are treasure,
And pain for Him is sweet.
Lord, if I may, I’ll serve another day!Refrain

[Yoh 9:4] Sunday School Volunteer Song
We are marching on with shield and banner bright,
We will work for God and battle for the right,
We will praise His Name, rejoicing in His might,
And we’ll work till Jesus calls.
In the Sunday School our army we prepare,
As we rally round our blessèd standard there,
And the Savior’s cross we early learn to bear,
While we work till Jesus comes.Refrain
Then awake, then awake, happy song, happy song,
Shout for joy, shout for joy, as we gladly march along.
We are marching onward, singing as we go,
To the promised land where living waters flow;
Come and join our ranks as pilgrims here below,
Come and work till Jesus calls.We are marching on, our Captain, ever near,
Will protect us still, His gentle voice we hear:
Let the foe advance, we’ll never, never fear,
For we’ll work till Jesus calls.
Then awake, awake, our happy, happy song,
We will shout for joy, and gladly march along;
In the Lord of Hosts let every heart be strong,
While we work till Jesus comes.Refrain

We’ll work with willing hand,
We’ll work until the Master calls us

We’ll work till Jesus comes,
We’ll work till Jesus comes,
And we’ll be gathered home.To Jesus Christ I fled for rest;
He bade me cease to roam,
And lean for comfort on His breast
Till He conduct me home.Refrain

[Yoh 9:4] Work, For The Night Is Coming
Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the morning hours;
Work while the dew is sparkling,
Work ’mid springing flowers;
Work when the day grows brighter,
Work in the glowing sun;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man’s work is done.Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the sunny noon;
Fill brightest hours with labor,
Rest comes sure and soon.
Give every flying minute,
Something to keep in store;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man works no more.Work, for the night is coming,
Under the sunset skies;
While their bright tints are glowing,
Work, for daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
Fadeth to shine no more;
Work, while the night is darkening,
When man’s work is o’er.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:25] Amazing Grace
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:25] Lord, I Was Blind
Lord, I was blind: I could not see
In Thy marred visage any grace;
But now the beauty of Thy face
In radiant vision dawns on me.Lord, I was deaf: I could not hear
The thrilling music of Thy voice;
But now I hear Thee and rejoice,
And all Thine uttered words are dear.Lord, I was dumb: I could not speak
The grace and glory of Thy Name;
But now, as touched with living flame,
My lips Thine eager praises wake.Lord, I was dead: I could not stir
My lifeless soul to come to Thee;
But now, since Thou hast quickened me,
I rise from sin’s dark sepulcher.Lord, Thou hast made the blind to see,
The deaf to hear, the dumb to speak,
The dead to live; and lo, I break
The chains of my captivity.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 9:25] Praise God For What He’s Done For Me
Praise God for what He’s done for me!
Once I was blind, but now I see;

Glory to God! I’m out of hell.Refrain
And above the rest this note shall swell,
This note shall swell, This note shall swell,
And above the rest this note shall swell,
My Jesus has done all things well.The Lord has pardoned all my sin,
And now to praise Him I’ll begin;
I never praised the Lord before,
But now I’ll praise Him more and more.Refrain
I spurned His grace, I broke His laws,
But Jesus undertook my cause;
Bad as I was, He cleansed my soul,
Healed my disease, and made me whole.Refrain
Praise God for what He’s done for us!
He’s turned our hearts to praise Him thus,
And now He cries, “Go on, go on!

I worship Thee, most gracious God,
And all Thy ways adore;
And every day I live, I seem
To love Thee more and more.When obstacles and trials seem
Like prison walls to be,
I do the little I can do,
And leave the rest to Thee.I have no cares, O blessèd Will,
For all my cares are Thine;
I live in triumph, Lord, for Thou
Hast made Thy triumphs mine.He always wins who sides with God;
To him no chance is lost;
God’s will is sweetest to him when
It triumphs at his cost.Ill that He blesses is our good,

And all is right that seems most wrong,
If it be His sweet will.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Yoh 11:11] If Death My Friend And Me Divide
If death my friend and me divide,
Thou dost not, Lord, my sorrow chide,
Or frown my tears to see;
Restrained from passionate excess,
Thou bidst me mourn in calm distress
For them that rest in Thee.I feel a strong immortal hope,
Which bears my mournful spirit up
Beneath its mountain load;
Redeemed from death, and grief, and pain,
I soon shall find my friend again
Within the arms of God.Pass a few fleeting moments more
And death the blessing shall restore
Which death has snatched away;

[Yoh 11:23] Within The Churchyard, Side By Side
Within the churchyard, side by side,
Are many long low graves;
And some have stones set over them,
On some the green grass waves.Full many a little Christian child,
Woman, and man, lies there;
And we pass near them every time
When we go in to prayer.They cannot hear our footsteps come,
They do not see us pass;
They cannot feel the warm bright sun
That shines upon the grass.They do not hear when the great bell
Is ringing overhead;
They cannot rise and come to church
With us, for they are dead.But we believe a day shall come
When all the dead will rise,
When they who sleep down in the grass,
Will ope again their eyes.For Christ our Lord was buried once,
He died and rose again,
He conquered death, He left the grave;
And so will Christian men.So when the friends we love the best
Lie in their churchyard bed,
We must not cry too bitterly
Over the happy dead;Because, for our dear Savior’s sake,
Our sins are all forgiv’n;
And Christians only fall asleep
To wake again in Heav’n.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Uprising from the grave;
And every eye that meets Thee
Beholds Thee strong to save.All hail, belovèd Jesus!
For Thou, indeed, art He
Whose death from sin can free us,
Whose life brings liberty.
Hence, let our faith embrace Thee
With warmest hand and eye,
And then delight to trace Thee
Ascending up on high.O Savior, come in glory,
To raise Thy holy dead,

The Master hath come, and He calls us to follow
The track of the footprints He leaves on our way;
Far over the mountain and through the deep hollow,
The path leads us on to the mansions of day:
The Master hath called us, the children who fear Him,
Who march ’neath Christ’s banner, His own little band;
We love Him and seek Him, we long to be near Him,
And rest in the light of His beautiful land.The Master hath called us; the road may be dreary
And dangers and sorrows are strewn on the track;
But God’s Holy Spirit shall comfort the weary;
We follow the Savior and cannot turn back;
The Master hath called us, though doubt and temptation
May compass our journey, we cheerfully sing:
“Press onward, look upward,” through much tribulation;
The children of Zion must follow the King.The Master hath called us, in life’s early morning,
With spirits as fresh as the dew on the sod:
We turn from the world, with its smiles and its scorning,
To cast in our lot with the people of God:
The Master hath called us, His sons and His daughters,
We plead for His blessing and trust in His love;
And through the green pastures, beside the still waters,
He’ll lead us at last to His kingdom above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Yoh 11:35] Jesus Wept! Those Tears Are Over
Jesus wept! those tears are over,
But His heart is still the same;
Kinsman, Friend, and elder Brother,
Is His everlasting Name.
Savior, who can love like Thee,
Gracious One of Bethany?When the pangs of trial seize us,
When the waves of sorrow roll,
I will lay my head on Jesus,
Refuge of the troubled soul.
Surely, none can feel like Thee,
Weeping One of Bethany!Jesus wept! and still in glory,
He can mark each mourner’s tear;
Loving to retrace the story
Of the hearts He solaced here.
Lord, when I am called to die,
Let me think of Bethany.Jesus wept! that tear of sorrow
Is a legacy of love;
Yesterday, today, tomorrow,
He the same doth ever prove,
Thou art all in all to me,
Loving One of Bethany!Who is this in silence bending
O’er a dark sepulchral cave?
Sympathetic sorrow blending
With the tears around that grave?
Christ the Lord is standing by,
At the tomb of Bethany.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Yoh 11:39] Roll The Stone Away
Jesus was standing beside a grave,
Weeping, but knowing His power to save;
“Take ye away now the stone from the door,”
And Christ will His power display.Refrain
They rolled the stone away,
For Christ was there that day,
And called upon a man to leave the darkened grave.
We’ll roll the stone away,
For He is here today,
And waits to show His mighty power,
His power to save.Jesus is speaking to you in song,
Asking why you have delayed so long?
While men are lying in grave-clothes of sin,
For whom Jesus died on the cross.Refrain
Jesus is standing by hearts of sin,
Knocking and saying, “Let Me come in.”
Rouse, then, ye sleeper, and open the door,
For Jesus has power to save.Refrain

[Yoh 11:43] One Named Lazarus
One named Lazarus was sick; his two sisters feared he’d die.
So to Jesus they sent word, hoping He would soon come nigh.
But when He received their word, two more days He did abide.
He said, “This won’t end in death; rather, I’ll be glorified.
This is for God’s glory great; through it I’ll be glorified.”Now when Jesus finally came, Laz’rus had been dead four days.
Martha went to welcome Him, asking why He’d stayed away.
She said, “Lord, if You’d been here, my dear brother still would live.
But I know that even now, all you ask, God will now give.
Though he’s dead, yet still I know, all You ask, God will now give.”“Resurrection and the life—I am both,” Jesus did say.
“He who does believe in Me, he will live beyond the grave.
He who lives, believes in Me, he will ne’er to death succumb.”
Martha said, “You are the Christ; You’re the One who was to come.
You’re the Christ, the Son of God; You’re the One Who was to come.”Martha then her sister called; Mary went to meet the Lord.
When she reached Him, knelt in tears, seeking comfort from His word.
Jesus, deeply moved, did ask, “Where have you his body laid?”
And He wept when He did see, for His love was very great.
Jesus wept and shared their grief, for His love was very great.Jesus then approached the tomb. “Take away the stone,” He said.
“But,” said Martha, “there’s a stench, for four days he has been dead.”
Jesus said, “You now will see God’s great glory—just believe.”
So they took away the stone, and he prayed, “May they believe;
Father, thank You, You have heard; may they now in Me believe.”Jesus then did give command; in a loud voice He did say,
“Laz’rus, come out of the tomb!” And the dead man did obey.
Both his hands and feet were bound, and a cloth did hide his face.
“Take the grave clothes; let him go,” Jesus said to those amazed.
“Said I not, believe and see God’s great glory in this place?”Just as Jesus gave new life to a man when he was dead,
He can do the same for all who believe what He has said.
For we all in sin are dead; resurrection life we need.
Jesus died and rose again, that we might from sin be freed.
All who put their trust in Him will not die but live indeed.Play source: Cyberhymnal
